The city of Chandler was founded by Dr. A.J. Chandler in 1912 and incorporated in 1920. According to the City of Chandler one of the things that makes Chandler unique is that most of the streets in the original town were named after States or American cities. Some of the street names are still here such as Boston Street, Arizona Avenue and California Street.
Chandler is also a popular location for tourist due to its modern version of the original historical look. The town host several annual events each year such as the Family and Ostrich Festivals. Chandler has been referred to as the jewel in the desert.
Chandler is located in the East Valley, in the southwest part of Greater Phoenix; located 20 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
